Do you feel odd or EVEN better alone?
B Y M A G G I E G U S E M A N |
Every now and then, you find yourself
alone – at a bus stop, in a waiting room, or at home on a Friday night. For
some people, this is just a chance to catch up with themselves, to recharge and
reorganize. For others, this is a very vulnerable time when they miss the
comfort they find in being around others.
In fact, most of our society’s images of
someone alone are of seemingly odd people who don't fit in
socially or who have closed themselves off from the rest of the world.
Aloneness, though CAN be very different, AND very good.
Being alone can be like taking yourself
out on a date! Do you think that you could treat yourself the way you want to be
treated and have a fun time doing it? Why not take the opportunity (when you are
alone) to do the things YOU love or have always really wanted to try that your
friends would never agree to do.
Being alone is also a good time to
remember what you LIKE about yourself. Being alone gives you the quiet
reflective time you need to figure out what you don't like quite so much
about yourself too. AND time alone can help you to choose the ways you think
you’d like to change and grow.
So how well DO you keep yourself
company? Let's find out!
