Chill! Not every day (or night) needs to be better than the last. Yes, summer IS short, but living like each day is the last day of summer doesn't give you much of a chance to develop some interests that could be just as cool – and it certainly doesn't make summer any slower to savor! Even taking one day a week to play with your dreams can take you to some incredible places to meet some incredible people.

We need 10 ccs of motivation, STAT! While summer may be a time to let your noodle rest a little, don't give up on it completely. Letting TV or video games do the thinking for you gets boring after a while, and spending your time doing as little as possible isn't necessarily good for your physical or mental health, either. Don't turn your summer months into anti-school months -- turn them into pro-imagination ones.

You have a good bee-thing going for yourself here. Your summer sounds like it will be well-paced as you move from one tantalizing flower to another. While the others may see the end of summer come with empty hands, you'll have made some energizing honey to get you through the winter.

Rx for a Bummer Summer
  • Pick up a new hobby, or expand on an old one. Try out a part-time gig somewhere – if nothing else, the pocket change is nice.
  • Volunteer some of your time to an organization you are interested in. It's a good way to meet new people and help at the same time.
  • Limit your hours in front of the tube.
  • Think about one of your dream careers and run with it. For example, if you want to be a painter, work at the canvas and get into some workshops. If you want to be a doctor, volunteer at a hospital. If you want to be an engineer, design the perfect city.
  • If you're into sports, head down to your local civic center and join a summer team.
  • Start your own summer business -- and it doesn't have to be a lemonade stand!
