While this quiz talks about dealing with other people's tempers, anger is not
an acceptable reason for physical, verbal or emotional abuse. If someone in your
life is taking their anger out on you, talk to someone you can trust, or contact
your local authorities for help.
It's a nice warm
night in July. You and your friends are hanging out, funning and summering
around. Suddenly the refreshing beverage you're holding turns into a blazing
stick of dynamite!!! What do you do?
Most of us would drop the bomb and hit the
bricks quick. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that explosives
are bad for your health. Just ask Wylie E. Coyote.
But while common sense tells us to sop,
drop, and roll when things get too hot, why is it that when a friend or
family member starts to sizzle, a lot of us get burned bad – even
though we're not the ones with the problem?
It's because tempers and fireworks really
aren't too different – when some people get mad, they're like a fireball that
destroys everything around.
Others are more the snap-crackle-and-pop
type who make a lot of noise and only do a little damage. And then there are
those who are the smoldering duds that threaten a big bang but just kinda fizzle
out.
Depending on your experience and training
with potential fire hazards, what you say or do around someone in a bad mood can
turn a little sparkler into a massive wildfire.
