Right On!

Ah, there's never a dull moment on the right side of the brain, where creativity rules. You're good at seeing things as a whole, and you're really good at brainstorming, too. That makes you an invaluable idea bank - both to yourself and others. You are comfortable in situations that are active and exciting, and you like to rely on your gut instinct for guidance. Chances are, you're one step ahead of everyone else. Just be careful you don't stay on the one side too much! While some of the left side stuff may seem boring to you, it does have a purpose. Sure, the world would be one happenin' place if we let our imaginations literally run wild, but we need the other side to make all of our dreams come true, too!

Needless to say, if your brainana splits to the right, you'll do really well in careers that require creativity and the ability to digest a lot of information all at once. Although the arts are a definite field, have you thought about jobs that involve travel or writing?

Wanna work your left a little? Try some of these suggestions:

  • Test your logical strength with crossword puzzles and mind benders.
  • Next time you have a hunch about something, try and find specific reasons you may have had that feeling. Sometimes hunches are really logic with a rightie's twist on it!
  • Even though you probably recognize everyone in your class, try learning the names of ten people you see every day. Then, give yourself little mental tests to see how well you remember them. You could even try learning a detail or two, like "Melissa is the girl with the blue coat," which will only make your leftie powers stronger.
  • If you like the visual arts, try and find the logic or reason behind one of your favorite pieces. For example, you might come up with something like: "She put that brush stroke of red in the lower left corner to highlight that figure." See? You can be creative and analytical at the same time!
