A recent study done by the American Association of University Women shows that contrary to popular belief, girls are NOT phobic towards technology but rather consider technology to be uninteresting.
For example, girls react negatively to what they see as the violence, redundancy and tedium of computer games. Girls who were surveyed viewed boys as using computers more as a toy, while the girls saw the computer as a tool..

The AAUW states that in order for girls to be "technologically
literate" they need "a set of critical skills, concepts, and
problem-solving abilities." Girl Zone will attempt to teach skills, present
concepts and guide girls through problem-solving techniques. All activities will
be done in a fun way that helps girls to obtain mastery as a function of
utilizing techno-skills in areas of high-interest.
