Girl Zone Community Inc. (GZCI) is a non-profit company as designated by the IRS.

Mission
Our mission is to support opportunities that teach girls understanding, values, skills and behaviors consistent with development of independence and resilience to carry them through the years of media manipulation and peer pressure.

Goals and Objectives

  • establishing charitable programs for girls in the general public that provide the tools to contribute positively to their own lives and to their communities.
  • enhancing leadership skills, foster healthy body image, promote cultural diversity and advance financial independence.
  • conducting projects in the areas of but not limited to; sports, health, media literacy, technology/math/science, careers and volunteer work. To engage in other activities in furtherance of these stated goals.

Programs

Finding the ME in Media Workshops-
Girls really look at and consider the images that surround them daily. It is a fun, interactive program that opens their eyes and gives them ways to deal with these images. This workshop is available to schools, youth groups, counselors etc.

TechKnow Girl-
Girls participate in online "techtorials" that are fun and interactive. The monthly projects will stimulate girls' interest, skills and confidence in computer technology. There are monthly contests and prizes.

Girl Zone website

Girl Zone and Girl Zone Community, Inc. are operated separately. Girl Zone offers a vehicle for numerous non-profit organizations to deliver their message or service directly to girls via the internet. Therefore, some Girl Zone Community, Inc. programs may be affiliated with the website.

Internships

We are looking for interns who want to help in the following areas:

  • Public Relations - work on a PR project to get the word out to women's and girls' organizations as well as the general public.
  • Direct Mailing - research on lists available to do a mailing announcing the formation of GZCI and asking for donations. This would include researching how much a simple mailing would cost and to design it.
  • Grant research - seek sources about where to get grant money for programs for girls.
  • Program design and management/Grant writing - consultant or administrator fee available
