About the Young Women's Work Project

The mission of the Young Women's Work Project is to creatively instigate new economic, educational, spiritual and leadership opportunities by and for poor and working class young women to end poverty. We use three main strategies:

1) conduct action research and disseminate culturally relevant information by and about the lives of poor young women;

2) organize a national network of poor young women and adult allies to fight for better jobs and higher wages for young women who have to work; and

3) create YWWP affiliate organizations run by and for young women in their communities. Currently we are developing Young Women United for Oakland in Oakland, California.
