Jackie Urbanovic, and Michelle Massman are the creators of the comic strip Maggie Inc.
Michelle had the idea of creating the character Maggie as a self-employed businesswoman whose life is RULED by her daily planner. (You know, EVERYTHING in her life is in there!) In the strip, Maggie left the corporate world to become a self-employed business woman. We see how Maggie deals with issues like time management and dress codes. Maggie Inc. brings humor to the daily life of businesswomen who deal with all the stresses that go along with self-employment.
But more than that, if you're female, this comic strip will make you laugh!
How did Michelle and Jackie meet?
Before the creation of Maggie Inc. Jackie was doing the illustrations, and Michelle was doing the marketing and public relations for the same client. Although this job did not work out the way Michelle and Jackie planned, something good did came out of the experience -- Michelle and Jackie realized how well they worked together.
Michelle was and still is doing work in the marketing and public relations field. Jackie kept illustrating, maintaining her main passion in life, art. Three years ago, Michelle came up with the character of Maggie. She went to Jackie for her expertise in illustration.
Did they start the strip right away?
They didn't start the strip right away because they were both pretty busy. Michelle works in marketing and public relations and Jackie illustrates children's books and does illustrations for advertising companies. Although both of these women were already successful, they decided to take their successes one step further.
Why?
Jackie and Michelle wanted a creation of their own. Maggie became their character based on things that actually happened to THEM. Or as Michelle says, "If it didn't happen to us, it happened to someone we know." All of the ups and downs that Maggie faces are struggles that real women have encountered in their lives. Women can definitely relate to Maggie.Maggie's creators want to talk to YOU!!
Both Michelle and Jackie encourage you to FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS. Michelle's main advice to you is "Pursue what makes you happy." Jackie says, "Don't give up; nothing happens overnight." Both of these women want you to know that determination is very important.You never know when you are going to make it, so never give up.
