Welcome to FEMedia -- the place where girls can read about how the world views and defines women and girls.

It Was A Really BIG Show That Made Women Look SMALL

Okay, the show is over now. The dust has settled and guess what? She really didn't want him after all!!!!  What am I talking about? The show to end all shows... Which woman would win the chance to...

MARRY A MILLIONAIRE!!!?

Did you see the show? Did you hear about it? Did it make you GAG or wish that you could win!?  It was like a beauty pageant, only the prize was a wedding to a millionaire. Didn't matter if you liked his looks, his belief system, the way he talked, or even the way he treated you... He would be YOURS!!!

What's wrong with this picture? Well the first thing is that so many women were willing to sell themselves for financially security. Yeah, yeah... I know, it IS horrible to be poor and not have enough to eat, to not have a place to sleep. People (men included) have been known to do whatever they have to in order to survive.  But I don't exactly think the contestants fell into the desperate category. They could all work or get an education or something that HAD to be preferable to debasing themselves like that.

So why did they do it? Was it the money? Or was it the idea that they where considered worthy and beautiful enough to catch a millionaire. (Don't even get me started on the term catch being used to talk about husbands!) Anyway... why do YOU think they did it? And if you secretly would do it too, REALLY ask yourself WHY?

Now, the point of all of this is that I sincerely hope that any teen girl reading this thinks enough about herself to NOT be willing to sell herself. I don't mean just taking money for becoming someone's wife or partner. I'm talking about being willing to suppress who you are so that someone likes you. Don't do it! Find someone who likes you the way you are. Sure it's cool to grow and change.  As long as it feels right and you LIKE the direction you are going in.

Women are NOT dependent on men in our society anymore. So.... DON'T ACT LIKE IT! Please?
