I read in a recent issue of Self magazine that women score significantly lower when they’re surrounded by the opposite sex...
WHAT are they talking about?
Apparently when a study was done at Williams College, women who took math tests without men around scored higher than the ones who took the test with men in the room! WHY? The researchers feel that women are STILL buying into those old stereotypes about men being better at these subjects... In other words it's a head trip.
Girl Zone's advice?
Don't go on that trip!!! Girls rule with math! Show the world. Help BLAST
those old stereotypes. The researchers suggested a few tips for helping yourself
get past the stereotypes if you are trying to fight them off. Of course
if you are already self-confident and a math wizard ignore them!
Try concentrating on your strong points or envisioning a female math whiz you know and identifying with her. Show the world that math is NOT just for boys!
