Polishing Off A Good Deed
by Katie SargeantI recently read an article about the rewarding experiences of four girls who help others with nail polish! It all started when seventeen year old Yadira Garcia's Grandmother passed away from cancer last year. Yadira's mother suggested she spend some time with elderly women to help her deal with her grief. Taking this advice, Yadira took some nail polish over to the local nursing home and spent time bonding with the women through weekly manicure sessions. After hearing how much Yadira was enjoying the time she spent at the nursing home three of her friends joined in on the fun. The elderly women loved having the girls come and visit, and especially loved their free manicures! Most importantly, the women know that the girls really care and that's what makes them look forward to their bonding time each week. Yadira and her friends look forward to visiting these women too. They have became great friends and the girls love listening to stories of "the good old days." Girls CAN make a difference!
